Description
Thermo Spectra Tech 4X Beam Condenser is designed for diffuse reflectance of pellets and gem-like materials. The beam is "condensed" by focusing the IR beam onto the sample. The diffuse reflecting light is collected on the opposite side (incident beam), then guided to the detector. This accessory is often used in Gem analysis with an MCT detector as found in Thermo white papers. The gem is placed on a conical gem holder (see photo) where the light transmits through the gem. The pellet holder (see photo) is used for diffuse reflectance of KBR pellets or disk like samples 13 mm in diameter. Accessory is compatible in all Thermo FTIRs except the IS5 and Summit models.
